What is different here
- Adults only. Everyone confirms they are 18 or older before their first chat.
- Block and Report in every chat. A report sends the last 30 messages to a moderator, and addresses reported by several different people are blocked automatically.
- Automatic checks. Slurs and threats are refused before they are delivered, links and phone numbers from strangers are hidden, and video is checked for nudity on your own device and blurred if it shows up.
- A random name, not just "Stranger". You get a name such as QuietPanda482, and it is the only name the other person sees.
- Keep in touch if you both want to. Send a friend request to someone you were matched with, and keep talking after the chat ends.
- A message box on video calls. Type alongside the call, mute your microphone or turn your camera off at any point.
- No advertising. The site is paid for by optional plans, not by ads.
Privacy, in plain words
Messages pass through our server and are not written to disk, unless a conversation is reported. Video and sound go directly between the two browsers and never reach our server, and we do not record calls. That direct connection is also why each side of a video chat can learn the other's IP address; a text chat never shows it. The privacy policy has the full detail.
Is it safe?
No site where you talk to strangers is free of risk, and we will not claim to be the safest. Chats are not watched live, and nobody's age or gender is verified. What you can count on is a way out of every chat, and reports that a person reads.
