Not to chat. There is nothing to install: open the site in your browser, press Start, and you are given a random name. You only sign in, with Google, if you want to keep that name across devices or buy a paid plan.

Partly. Interests put people who share them first. A paid plan adds two filters: one for people who said they are male or female, and one for a country, which puts people who said they are there first. There is no filter for age, and everyone on the site must be 18 or older.

You can meet women, men and everyone else, all of them adults. Free matching ignores gender. A paid plan adds a filter for people who said they are female or male. That answer is self-reported and we cannot verify it, and nobody is obliged to keep talking to you: every chat has Skip, Block and Report for both sides.

Any adult. You must be 18 or older, and you need a browser with a camera and microphone that you allow the site to use. No account, download or payment is needed.

Only the one person you are matched with. Picture and sound travel directly between your two browsers and never pass through our server. You can mute your microphone or turn your camera off during the call. Because the connection is direct, each side can learn the other's IP address.

Yes. Choose Text Chat and the conversation is typing only: your camera and microphone are never asked for, and a text chat never reveals your IP address to the other person.

Not by us. Video and sound go directly between the two browsers and never reach our server. As on any video call, the other person could record their own screen, and a direct connection lets each side learn the other's IP address.

It can be, if you treat it like talking to a stranger anywhere else. Do not share your full name, address, phone number, passwords or payment details, and be wary of anyone who asks for money or sends you a link. If a chat turns unpleasant, press Skip, or block or report the person from the chat menu.

Yes. You chat under a random name such as QuietPanda482, with no account, email or phone number, and the other person sees only that name and what you choose to say or show. Anonymous to each other is not the same as invisible, though: our server sees your IP address in order to deliver messages, and on a video call each side can learn the other's IP address.

No site where you talk to strangers is free of risk, and we will not claim to be the safest. What we can tell you is what this one does: no account or personal details are needed, messages are not written to disk, video never reaches our server, every chat has Block and Report, and addresses reported by several different people are blocked automatically.

It depends on what you mean by secret. If you want to talk without anyone knowing who you are, random chat fits: there is no account, you get a random name, and messages are not saved unless a conversation is reported. If you want private, encrypted messaging with people you already know, use a dedicated encrypted messenger instead. This is not one, since messages pass through our server to be delivered.

Press Skip to leave, or open the chat menu to block or report them. Addresses reported by several different people are blocked from the service automatically.

That depends on what you want from it. randomchat.social suits people who want a quick one-on-one conversation with no sign-up: free text and video, matching by shared interests, and no advertising. Sites with profiles or group rooms suit other needs better.
