One stranger, one conversation
randomchat.social is a free random chat site: press a button and talk to one other person, by text or on a video call. This page says what we are trying to build, and what we are not.
What randomchat.social is
It pairs two adults who are online at the same moment and lets them talk. Each gets a random name such as QuietPanda482. There is no profile to fill in, no feed to scroll and no follower count. When the conversation has run its course, either person presses Skip and meets someone new.
It runs in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to install and no account needed to chat.
Why we built it
Talking to a stranger is one of the oldest good ideas on the internet. You hear how life looks from somewhere else, you say things you would not say to people who know you, and now and then you make a friend. Most of the places built for it either closed or filled up with sign-up walls, advertising and bots.
We wanted the plain version back: fast to start, easy to leave, and honest about what it does with your data.
What we stand for
- Conversation over engagement. Nothing here is designed to keep you scrolling. There is one chat at a time, and it ends when you want it to.
- As little data as possible. No name, email or phone number to chat. Messages are not written to disk unless a chat is reported, and video never reaches our server.
- Plain answers. Anonymous to each other is not the same as invisible to the internet, and we say so. The privacy policy lists everything the service processes.
- An exit in every chat. Skip, Block and Report are always in reach, and the other person is never told who reported them. See how safety works.
What we do not do
- We show no advertising and run no analytics scripts.
- We do not sell or share information with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not record video calls. Picture and sound travel directly between the two browsers.
- We do not claim to be the biggest or the safest. Talking to strangers always carries some risk.
How it pays for itself
Chatting is free: text, video, interest matching, skipping, blocking and reporting, with no daily limit. The site is paid for by optional plans that add extras such as gender and country filters, photo sharing and a longer chat history. You never need one to talk. Who it is for
Adults only. You must be 18 or older to use randomchat.social, and everyone agrees to the community guidelines by starting a chat.
